Double Glazed Window Products

Cambridge isn't one type of house, and it isn't one type of job. The right window for a bay-fronted terrace in Romsey is rarely the right window for a kitchen extension in Trumpington. Here's how we think about it.

Windows in Cambridge for Period and Victorian terraces

Windows in Cambridge for Period and Victorian terraces

Streets like Romsey, Petersfield, Newnham and Chesterton are full of bay-fronted Victorian and Edwardian homes that are lovely to look at but often cold, draughty and still single-glazed. For period homes where it’s permitted, our flush sash windows sit neatly within the frame for a traditional look, and our sliding sash windows keep the classic vertical-sliding character while cutting out the draughts and bringing down your heating bills. If your home is in a conservation area or it’s listed, the rules are different, and we cover that further down.

Double Glazing for New-build homes and extensions

Double Glazing for New-build homes and extensions

The newer parts of Cambridge, like Eddington, Marleigh, Trumpington and the CB1 area by the station, tend to want a more contemporary feel. Our aluminium windows have slim frames that let in more light, and for an extension that opens onto the garden it’s hard to beat a set of aluminium bifold doors or a roof lantern flooding the room with daylight.

1930s semis and post-war suburbs

Around Arbury, Cherry Hinton and the wider suburbs, we fit a lot of straightforward replacements, swapping tired old frames for something warmer and more secure. Our uPVC casement windows are the popular choice here, often paired with a smart new composite front door. Modern double glazing keeps more heat in and cuts draughts, which makes the home more comfortable and can help lift its EPC rating.

Why Cambridge homeowners choose us

We’re a family-run company, and we take a personal approach to everything we do. There’s no pushy sales routine and no jargon, just clear options, honest advice and fair pricing. We’re also proud to be featured among the top double glazing installers in Cambridge.

We’ll also be straight with you about what’s possible. Parts of Cambridge sit within conservation areas, including De Freville, The Kite, Mill Road and St Matthew’s and Newnham Croft, and there are listed buildings across the city. In those homes the council usually won’t allow uPVC, and listed buildings need consent before any window is changed. If your home is restricted, we’ll tell you honestly what is and isn’t possible rather than sell you something that won’t get past the planners. A good first step is to check your property on the council’s planning constraints map. You can read more in our guide to replacing windows in a Cambridge conservation area or listed building.

We work throughout Cambridge and the surrounding towns, including St Ives, St Neots, Godmanchester and Brampton.

Doors we install in Cambridge

Our uPVC doors Cambridge range covers front, back and patio doors in a wide choice of colours and woodgrain finishes, each fitted with multi-point locking as standard.

If you’d like the look of a painted timber door without the upkeep, our composite doors Cambridge range combines a tough GRP skin with strong thermal performance and security.

For larger openings and slimmer frames, our aluminium doors Cambridge range includes bifold, sliding, French and entrance sets, all thermally broken and made to measure.

Our French doors Cambridge fit particularly well on period terraces, opening fully onto the garden with A-rated glazing and multi-point locking as standard.

Sliding sets give the largest area of uninterrupted glass, and our patio doors Cambridge range is available in two, three and four pane configurations.

For kitchen extensions and garden rooms, our bifold doors Cambridge range folds back up to 90 percent of the wall, made to measure and fitted by our own installers.

Double Glazing, Windows & Doors in Cambridge FAQ's

Yes. We’re based in Huntingdon and work right across Cambridge and the surrounding area, from the city-centre terraces to the newer estates on the edge of town.

It depends on the property. In conservation areas the council usually won’t allow uPVC, and listed buildings need formal consent before any window is changed. We’ll always tell you honestly what’s possible for your home, and if it’s restricted we’ll point you in the right direction rather than sell you something that won’t be approved.

For most homes outside a conservation area, replacing your windows with a similar style is generally allowed without planning permission. Conservation areas and listed buildings are the exception. It’s always worth checking your property on the council’s constraints map first, and we’re happy to talk it through.

Yes. Modern double glazing keeps more heat in, cuts draughts and reduces condensation, which makes your home more comfortable and can help lift your EPC rating. That matters more than ever in Cambridge, with the local push to improve home energy efficiency.

This is first time I used this company, so it was a risk. However, I found them to be a trustworthy, reliable company with good pricing. Quoted and fitted within a few weeks.

A UPVC window at our property in St Ives suffered burn damage from a mirror that had been placed on the ledge. We got a replacement from HWBP which was then expertly fitted by Daniel. He was masterful at his craft, highly experienced and a pleasure to chat with!
I'd highly recommend HWBP for windows, doors etc.

Can highly recommend HWBP. I had a new set of french doors and a new window installed. Penny and Jaron handled the whole process from start to finish incredibly well; quick and clear communication, good advice and happy to answer any questions. The final installation was top drawer.
