Is it worth getting aluminium windows?
It’s worth it in the right house. Aluminium earns its premium where its strengths actually get used: contemporary properties, extensions with large glass panes or bifold doors, and anywhere slim frames and maximum glass matter to the design. It lasts 30 to 45 years, needs almost no maintenance, holds its colour, and its strength allows window sizes uPVC can’t manage. On a standard semi with ordinary-sized casement windows, the case is weaker, because modern uPVC achieves the same A-rated energy performance for 25 to 40 per cent less money, and most of aluminium’s advantages go unnoticed. So the honest answer: for modern, design-led homes or long-term owners, yes. For a typical family house on a budget, uPVC does the same job for less.
