Is it cheaper to replace all windows at once?
Yes, almost always. When you replace the whole house in one go, you pay once for the survey, delivery, waste removal and the installation team’s time on site, and installers offer better per-window pricing as the order grows. Doing three or four windows a year means paying those fixed costs repeatedly, and you risk price rises between phases. There’s also a practical benefit: all your windows will match, carry the same guarantee and age at the same rate. The exception is genuine budget constraint. If phasing is the only way to afford the work, prioritise the worst-performing windows first, usually north-facing rooms and anywhere with failed units, and ask your installer to price the future phases now.
