Do aluminium windows cause condensation?
Modern aluminium windows shouldn’t, but older ones can. Aluminium conducts heat extremely well, so early frames without a thermal break got cold in winter and moisture in the room condensed on them. Every reputable aluminium system sold today includes a polyamide thermal break separating the inner and outer frame, which largely eliminates the problem. If you’re seeing condensation on new aluminium windows, the cause is usually humidity in the room rather than the frame: drying laundry indoors, poor ventilation, or bathrooms and kitchens without extraction. Condensation on the outside of the glass on cold mornings is actually a sign of efficient glazing and nothing to worry about. Condensation between the panes is different; that means the sealed unit has failed.
